Fly Fishing in a Thunderstorm
Being an outdoor sport, fly fishing has its risks. If planned well, there’s not much danger in fishing under a clear blue sky and warm day if you are properly geared. Terri and Rob, however, had an interesting experience not too long ago. While on a fly fishing trip, the skies suddenly darkened. They had hoped the bad weather would pass, so the Georgia fly fishing guide continued down the river. Soon it started to rain, but that wasn’t the bad part. The wind picked up and soon there was lighting and thunder.
They were city people, so Terri and Rob were looking for an outdoor adventure, but this was a little more than they bargained for. Due to the ferocious weather, and that day a couple of squall lines had come through, they learned only a limited number of fly patterns. It wasn’t the best bass fishing trip ever, but a good time nonetheless. Being from New York, they weren’t accustomed to thunderstorms in November, at least not like that. Luckily nobody was hit by lightning. They just got a little wet.
