Running Errands for Grandpa
One of the things that I have always believed in is that you should spend as much time as you can with your elders. They have so many stories to share and a lifetime of experiences to offer, but unfortunately most youth of today are too busy to give them the time of day.
But for me, I love spending time with my grandfather. It is interesting to hear how he grew up in the north, and how his youth was a lot different than mine. There are definitely nuggets of wisdom that I get from every moment that we spend together and I will miss him when he is gone.
I have also taken it upon myself to help him out where I can. On any given week you might find me vacuuming his house, or running errands for him. Today is a good example as I will be going out this afternoon to get some batteries for his Persona hearing aid. They have them at the corner store, so it will be a quick trip for me.
I just hope that someday when I am that old that my grandchildren will take the time to help me out. I really worry about that – it seems kids now days are just too busy.
