Business classes teach that in order for a business to succeed, it has to either be relatively free of competition in the market, or it needs to have a competitive advantage that will make people choose your company over another.
There are many ways to build a competitive advantage into your business. The most popular way is, of course, to try to beat the competition’s prices. However, this doesn’t always work out the way that you want it to — with the global market and the economic recession, it is often harder than you would think to offer a lower price than all of your competitors.
Another way to offer a competitive advantage is with something that other companies don’t offer, but that would be appealing to your target market. For instance, being able to say that your office is paperless is a great way to attract customers of a certain demographic. If you have networked attached scanners to digitize documents, preventing the need for employees to make additional copies, and you encourage all documents to be sent electronically whenever possible, you may be able to have an advantage over your competitors with customers who care about this kind of thing.

Trying to Get the Perfect Anniversary Gift
One of the things that you learn early on in a marriage is that you can never forget your anniversary. I made that mistake our first year of marriage and my wife never let me forget it. So, I make sure to remember each and every year, and so far for the past seven years, I have been successful at remembering.
With our anniversary coming up in just a couple of weeks, I decided that I should figure out what I am getting for my wife before the time comes that I need a gift for her. I decided that I would take a look at some western decorations since that is what she has been into lately.
Now, I thought that I had everything under control when I went to the store, but I think I was wrong. I found myself completely lost when looking at the western bedding sets. Standing there, I realized that maybe I should have asked my wife what she wanted for her anniversary instead of trying to guess.
After browsing around for fifteen more minutes, I left the store and headed for home. I’ll just ask her what she wants – that will be so much easier than what I tried to do today.

It’s amazing to me that there are still hotels and motels that allow you to keep pets there with you overnight during your stay. I mean, these establishments are taking a big risk! The pets could really foul or damage the room. But it is nice that at least some hotels take into consideration that you might have special needs and it is a necessity to keep your pet with you, whether it be a circumstantial need or a disability need.
But there are some that do! And I don’t mean crummy little icky places, which I’ve had to resort to when moving across country with my pet, unfortunately. I mean really decent places that cater to business travelers like the Comfort Inn Medical Park hotel in North Carolina. These people seem to realize that decent people need a decent place to stay even though they may have the special circumstance of their pet, and if there isn’t a hotel that will accommodate them, then people are just going to sneak the pet in, anyway.
We only found a few places like that when we moved from Chino Hills to Colorado. And when we left a night early to begin our trip and ended up staying in Barstow with no reservation, we couldn’t find one at all. Sure enough, we ended up sneaking the dog in!
Do Your Work With All Your Heart
You probably spend about eight hours of every day at your job. If you don’t put your heart into it then this is a lot of time that you probably feel like you’re wasting. It’s not easy to give your heart to a job but it makes doing your work a whole lot more pleasant. It also makes you do better at your career.
You may be thinking that it’s impossible to do your job with heart. However, any job can be done this way if you put effort into it. Do you have a business that you need to market? Here’s a little tip: look to the past. No, I don’t mean that you should market like they did in the old days. I mean that you should learn some history about your business and area and use that to your advantage when marketing.

Our Car Broke Down
There is nothing more frustrating than running into problems on vacations. Usually in these instances you are far away from home and find yourself paying more than you need to if something needs to be fixed. In many cases, these unexpected issues can be the end of your trip, so you hope that you never run into them.
Unfortunately for us, we weren’t lucky enough to escape problems on our trip. We left last Monday for a two week trip and it seemed like everything was going to be ok. But yesterday, our car broke down, and the shop that we had it towed to told us that it was going to be four days before they could get the parts we needed.
Was that the end of our trip?
Thankfully it wasn’t. The mechanic was helpful and he suggested that I try to get a rental from one of the many Orlando car hire firms in the area. I guess we were lucky that we didn’t break down off the beaten path, and that we were close enough to civilization to rent another car.
So, we will have to go back and pickup our car at the shop on the way back, but at least we can still enjoy our vacation. Truth be told, there is a lot more space in our rental car than the one we own.
Athletic Training Can be Expensive
One of my dreams as a child was to be a professional cyclist. I know that most kids want to be firemen or astronauts, but the moment that I got on my bicycle it felt like I was on my own rocket ship. So, that became my lifelong dream that I was finally able to realize when I turned eighteen.
But to get to that point, I needed to monitor what I ate and I had to train at least three hours a day. This meant a lot of commitment and dedication to my dream while my friends were out at the movies. I did miss a lot of my childhood, but I don’t have any regrets – it was my choice to pursue my dream.
My parents were behind me most of the way until they learned that it was more expensive than they had expected. Reducing my Jewelry Collection
After my husband told me that I had way too much jewelry, I decided that I would get rid of some of it. He suggested that I didn’t need anymore, but I think that he doesn’t understand my needs at all. So, instead we just compromised: I wouldn’t spend anymore money, but I could spend the money that I made when I was able to sell the gold jewelry.
Well, I had no idea of how or where to sell jewelry. I knew that pawn shops were an option, but I was sure they were not going to give me top dollar, so I decided that I would find something better. The problem was I didn’t know where to start.
I mentioned the problem to my girlfriends one day over lunch and one of them suggested that I contact the gold buyer that she had used when they sold her grandmother’s jewelry. She told me that they paid top dollar and were easy to deal with.
Now, after a couple of successful transactions, I can see that I will get some good money for the jewelry that I do have. In fact, I might even be able to buy more jewelry than I currently have due to the good exchange rate on gold at the moment – won’t my husband be happy…
