Sisterly Love
Several years ago my Mother stepped in a pothole and broke both her right leg and her left ankle. Due to the injury on both legs she was bound to a wheelchair. This created an intense hardship on her husband who had a very stressful full time job. Unfortunately, my mom lives hundreds of miles from her kids.
In comes her sister to the rescue. My beloved aunt has always been an excellent caretaker. Even to stray cats and dogs, if one of them landed on her front door they were always taken in and nursed back to health. My aunt believes a b-12 shot can cure just about anything. After my mom’s tumble the family considered looking into family caregiver resources. As a family we thought some home care training would benefit us in assisting my mother. Fortunately my aunt is a retired nurse. She has experience in the best caregiver training programs and was able to assist my mom for several months.
The experience gave the sisters an unexpected chance to bond. I imagine they hadn’t spent that much time together since they were teenagers. They still bicker about one another and participate in sibling rivalry but beneath that exterior sisterly love shines through.
