New Tactics in Fund Raising

It’s been a bad couple of months for those of us who work in fund raising. I work at a North Carolina college and we are desperately in need of funds to update our computer department, as well as adding a new block for some of the new courses that we plan to start offering within the next couple of years.  Old alumni of the institution have been generous, but I have noticed that other sources of funding have begun to be a little less generous than they used to be and I can’t say that I blame them. The economy has been slowing down for a while now, and with all evidence pointing to a full blown recession, not too many people are willing to dig into their pocket books deep enough.

Anyway, last week, we kicked off an integrated marketing solution package to boost our fundraising efforts before the year ends.  It was one of our alumni who suggested that we use this 4 color printing North Carolina company that offers great solutions for higher education institutions.  I loved the way they were able to integrate the usual mailer services with web technology to create a better impact.  Our worn out mailer system was proving ineffective in the wake of the economic scenario.  With this two pronged approach - combining a traditional mailer with customized web landing pages, I think we will be able to reach out to old alumni as well as our regular patrons in a far more effective manner.
