A Winter Wonderland

When I was a kid, my parents dragged me half way across the country over Christmas break for a “change in scenery”.  I had no idea what they meant, but I dreaded it.

They told me we were going to a New England inn. “There is so much to do during the wintertime, where do we begin?” they chimed.  I was worried.  Wow!  I was wrong.

You won’t be sorry if you visit one of the many lovely Vermont bed and breakfasts at the top of a snow-capped mountain. Cities like Killington offer the visitors tons of winter activities, such as ice skating, sleigh riding and snowboarding. And after your bustling day is over, you can hit up one of the city’s charming restaurants. Then, retire in your fire-lit room. Now, at 10 years old, I don’t think “retire” was on my mind; more something my parents were into, but it was really nice.

My favorite part was relaxing during the evening with a big mug of steaming hot cocoa inside one of the warm and cozy Maine inns we hit during our little road trip. Maine is known for its amazing year-round activities. So, if winter adventure sounds good to you, this is the place to visit!  It’s been 10 years and I still remember this trip!
