Most Popular Associate Degree Programs
In my ongoing search to help my 3 daughters find the higher education options that were best suited to each of their individual interests and skills, we found that some of the most popular Associates Degree programs online were related to the studies of technology and the arts.
Although none of my daughters had a desire to pursue a career in the field of technology, they were all proficient in the use of personal computers, making an online college degree an extremely viable and increasingly attractive option. My eldest had always shown a great interest in the various arts, and towards her senior year in high school her interest seemed to really lean towards graphic design. She had already been offered a full time position as an administrative assistant for a well established and highly regarded architectural firm once she completed high school. There was potential for growth and advancement within this firm, but I reminded my daughter that it could be detrimental to her future to not consider other options that might be available to her. I also reminded her that according to the U.S. Department of Education, a student who chooses to move forward and obtain a degree after high school will earn significantly more money than those who decide not to further their education and choose to immediately enter the workforce.
Since she would be the first of the three to graduate from college, much of our initial research focused on the various careers and corresponding courses that were geared towards my eldest daughter’s passion for art and design. Her interest peaked and she became very excited as we began to uncover information about the curriculum and career options that were associated with the study of interior design. The options varied between programs that were focused solely on interior design and an online Humanities Degree program that included a broader range of studies that included the arts, but also offered her the opportunity to investigate additional career options and learn skills that would be beneficial to her in any position.
