Learning the Difference Between Boat Parts
One of the challenges that I had given myself for this summer was to find a job that I had never tried before. This did leave me with a lot of options, but I wanted to make sure that I found a job where I could learn something new – so flipping burgers was out of the question.
After handing out my resume to many different places, I was able to land a job at the local Mercruiser Parts dealer. Truth be told, except for my experience of working at retail stores, I had no idea when it came to boats or boat parts. But they told me that they would be happy to train me, so I took it upon myself as a challenge to become the best part salesperson ever.
But it hasn’t been easy. I didn’t realize that there were so many parts when it came to a boat and sometimes knowing what the difference is between a Powerhead and a stern drive is difficult for me. My employer has been very patient with me and I think that I am finally starting to get it.
Needless to say, this job has been perfect for me to learn something new and I have been having fun – and for me, that is all that matters.
