Being Prepared for Anything
As a business owner, it is important to be prepared for anything that could happen. Being prepared reduces the likelihood that if something unexpected happens, you will need to shut down your business in order to take care of it. A few items you might want to have in case of an emergency or the need arises include:
- A fire extinguisher for putting out small flames before they turn into a bigger fire that could threaten your building — and your business!
- Orange caution cones to warn customers about a wet or slippery floor or some other hazard — a few of these would be good!
- Temporary fence panels in case you unexpectedly have to block off part of the store, parking lot, sidewalk, etc. for a certain amount of time
- Post and rope for organizing lines, blocking off certain areas, etc.
- A toolbox with basic tools such as a hammer, crescent wrench, pliers, screwdrivers, etc.
Some of these things you have to find per local regulations, such as a fire extinguisher. Others you may or may not need, such as temporary fence panels or post and rope. In any case, though, it is good to have many of these types of things around, just in case. You never know when you might need them!
